This panoramic trail with awe-inspiring views of the distant Dolomites is an easy yet spectacular circular hike from the mountain station of Merano 2000 up to the Rifugio Mittager inn.

From Pivigna, start off on trail no. 3, which takes you past the Malga Waidmann inn to the valley station of the Mittager chairlift. Hop on the chairlift and let it conveniently take you to the top, from where you can proceed along trail no. 13A all the way to Grande Monte Catino. The route is dotted with telescopes offering breath-taking views of some of the most magnificent peaks in South Tyrol. From the Rifugio Mittager inn, awe-inspiring panoramic vistas reach as far as the most dramatic summits in the Dolomites as well as the Ortles and Gruppo Tessa ranges.

There are several options for your return journey: One trail leads from Rifugio Mittager to Rifugio Meraner and from there on to Pivigna, or down to Falzeben passing Rifugio Parete Rossa and Rifugio Zuegg. Another option will take you from the mountain station and then to the ropeway mountain station at Pivigna along trails no. 13 and 18/A.
