FOR A CLEAN MOUNTAIN

Did you know that a banana peel takes 1 to 2 years to decompose completely, while a plastic bottle takes 100 to 5,000 years?

Meran 2000 Bergbahnen AG and the Hafling-Vöran-Meran2000 Tourism Association are constantly working to keep the mountains clean. That’s why the “PICK UP" project was launched. The name comes from the South Tyrolean dialect word “aufklauben” (to pick up) and is meant to be a call to action to collect trash. The awareness campaign is being carried out in collaboration with young people from the Bolzano-Land Youth Service.

From Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, 2026, the young people will be out and about in Meran 2000 to collect litter left behind. The campaign also encourages all other visitors to join in: Equipped with sustainable gloves and a trash bag, you can participate in the cleanup yourself on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. Once your bag is full, you can exchange it for a small surprise.
