The Youth Project on the Mountain
Young Mountain is a project organized in collaboration with volunteer instructors and aimed at high school and college students aged 14 to 26.
By participating in a total of 12 hours, spread over three Saturday mornings, each lasting four hours, participants have the opportunity to purchase an annual pass for the Meran 2000 mountain railways (valid from November 27, 2026, to November 7, 2027) at the heavily discounted price of €150.00.
ADDITONALLY holders of this season pass receive a 10% discount on the Saturday beginner ski course offered by AS Merano.
The courses are held in German and Italian.

Meeting Point & Dismissal
We’ll meet promptly at 8:45 a.m. at the cable car’s valley station (Naifweg 37, Merano)*.
Course ends: around 1:30 p.m. at the mountain station.
*If a participant is arriving via the Falzeben gondola, please let us know before the course begins.
In this case, the meeting point is the mountain station of the cable car at 9:15 a.m.
Annual pass for 150€
Attendance at all 3 courses is mandatory to receive the discounted annual pass*.

*If participants disrupt the course through disruptive behavior or repeated disturbances, the organizing team reserves the right to send the participant home and to withhold the annual pass.

3 October 2026 – Sustainability & Via Ferrata
How can we move responsibly in the mountains?
Together with the AVS, you will learn how to enjoy the mountains sustainably and discover what is important for a safe introduction to via ferrata climbing; from the right equipment to essential safety rules.
10 October 2026 – Heroes in Action
Get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at mountain rescue with Heli Austria and discover how helicopter rescue operations work and what it takes to become a pilot. Afterwards, the First Responders & the Mountain Rescue will show you how to act correctly in emergency situations, identify risks and use simple measures that can help save lives.
17 October 2026 – Meet the Athletes
A morning full of inspiration with extraordinary personalities from the mountain world: get valuable trail running tips from Andreas Reiterer, exciting insights into the adventures of the Weger Brothers, learn more about avalanche safety and paragliding, and listen to personal stories and experiences from Tamara Lunger.
